China - One of the worst place to work in the world
The price level vs living quality in China is just horrible. In every country, there is space for low to mid income workers, where there are cheap food, public transportation, etc.
In China, these things are just unreliable. When you go out for a soup noodle on the street, you have to worry if the oil they use is healthy, the pork is good, and if the soup is clear. Not only that, when you buy clothes, you have to worry if the dye used is healthy and green.
Because frankly speaking, in China, there are a lot of people who use cheap oil that is unhealthy in most restaurants. There are a lot of restaurants who use bad pork from pigs that are sick and ill. There are a lot of bad factories who dye the clothes with unhealthy dyes such that if you wear them for long, you get skin illness.
Not only that, even the salt they use, is sometimes industrial (not for eating).
As for public transportation, you won't see a line to wait to get on the bus in most cities. For getting on the bus during busy hours, you have to fight to get on the bus. Most people will be immoral enough to not even let elders go first.
As I have witnessed in one of my trips, a young man would even push away the elder to get on the bus. The incident happened right in front of my eyes.
Besides, the price level in China is terrible. A McDonald meal is costing about the same as in Taiwan, and yet the average earnings in China is 1/2 or 1/3 of Taiwan's average. Now you can imagine how bad the price level vs income is in China, as well as the living quality.
The land price is rising everyday, whereas the Chinese government is too weak to control it. In fact, the Chinese government may be the one behind the land price rise. Most land prices have already matched up with Europe/United States.
Price level is also rising non-stop. Beggars on the streets are also rising a lot.
Given these conditions, do you think it's good to work in China? If you are coming from abroad like me, think again. Because I am getting pretty sick of China after working here fore 3 years and planning to leave this country soon.
