Getting ScribeFire and Drupal work together
Thu, 04/19/2007 - 18:53 — Richard Laffers
Want to use the ScribeFire (a.k.a. Performancing) Firefox extension for publishing from your desktop to your Drupal based blog? Read here how to set it up in 5 steps.
Okay, I know it's ridiculously simple and only a dummy like me needs to follow these instructions, but hey, next time you have a hard day and cannot accomplish even the simplest of tasks, you WILL know.
- Log in as Drupal administrator. Go to Administration--> Site building--> Modules (?q=/admin/build/modules in your browser's locationbar).
- Enable the Blog API module.
- Go to Administration--> Site configuration--> Blog APIs (?q=/admin/settings/blogapi). Check at least one content type that is considered a blog entry (typically story, blog entry). Save.
- Fire up ScribeFire. Launch the Account Wizard in the right side of the ScribeFire window (or click "Add" if you already have set up some accounts previously).
- In the Wizard: click "Manually Configure", select "Custom Blog", click "Next", select "Drupal" blog system type, type in your domain (http://changethis.com/xmlrpc.php), click "Next", enter your username, password, click "Next", click "Done".
I warned you, it's ridiculously simple.
Hmmm.... hope you can help.
Got the API set.... but when I try to log in....
get 404 not found (maybe URL wrong)
try a few different ones.... and get:
server returned a malformed response
or login error, check username
What's the right path to the blog???
Chris
I know it's ridiculously simple but seriously unless you know already it's kind of hard to figure out. I could not for the life of me figure it out until I found this article of yours. So thank you very much for relaying this information.
A dummy like me needed these instructions to work out how to make it function - so thank you!
